A Kissimmee woman was killed early Tuesday morning when her Ford Explorer overturned in the median on Florida’s Turnpike near the Orange Blossom Trail/State Road 528 interchange.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, at 3:55 a.m. Jessica Abrahante, 31, was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer southbound on the Turnpike when it suddenly swerved into the paved median. According the incident report, the driver overcorrected to return to the road, causing the vehicle to roll over and overturn multiple times before coming to rest on its side in the outside shoulder.

Abrahante was wearing a seat belt, but she was partially ejected as the driver’s side door was peeled off during the accident and she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash was still under investigation late Tuesday morning, the report said.
