City of Life Academy got the football season rolling in style Friday with a 41-0 win over Elfers Christian School, 41-0, at Austin-Tindall Park.

The Warriors were never threatened in their seven-man football debut as quarterback Kolin Funk rushed for three touchdowns and Harmony transfer Mike Santiago rushed for 117 yards on five carries. He also scored a touchdown.

“I personally feel that our kids played great. Their potential is unlimited,” Warriors Coach Glenn Harris said. “This group is not only athletic, but their cognitive knowledge is unbelievable.”

City of Life, 1-0, got a good push from the offensive line, Harris said.

“I was very impressed with them. Hank Link, Trey Krisle and Carleek Martin are the anchors,” he said.

Devin Christiansen led the defense with 11 tackles.

“Elfers is a young team that is going to be better, and we’ll work on some things and improve, too,” Harris said.

The Warriors travel to Oasis Christian in Winter Haven Friday at 7:30 p.m.
