Southbound travel lanes of Florida's Turnpike reopened just before 1 p.m. today following a fatal crash at mile-marker 195, approximately three miles north of the Yeehaw Junction interchange.

Traffic was diverted for over three hours onto U.S. Highway 192.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a northbound 1999 Ford Explorer suffered a tire failure resulting in the blowout of the rear passenger side tire. The driver, Andy Martinez, 24, of Miami, lost control of the vehicle, which entered the center median sideways and began to roll, going over and through the center median into the southbound lanes.

Of the vehicle's six occupants, four were not using a restraint device and were ejected. One, a male, was prounounced deceased on scene by Osceola County Fire Rescue, and was transported from the scene by the Medical Examiner. The rest, including two that were wearing seatbelts and not ejected, were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center and Arnold Palmer Hospital Orlando. The deceased male's identity has not been release pending notification of next of kin.
