Osceola County Sheriff's detectives have arrested Robert Kevin Sawyer, 58, 2261 Spring Lake Circle, St. Cloud, and charged him with two counts each of attempted robbery, aggravated assault and grand theft.

On Friday at approximately 6:29 p.m., deputies responded to Publix supermarket at 2340 Fortune Road in Kissimmee. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a cashier who indicated an unknown male was in the line and implied he had a gun. He demanded money from the cashier and when she did not comply, he left the store.

On Sunday, deputies responded to the Publix at 3343 South Orange Blossom Trail in Kissimmee and took a similar attempted armed robbery report.

Witnesses indicated the suspect left the area in a white van. A short time later, a Kissimmee police officer conducted a traffic stop on a white van. After further investigation, it was determined the driver of the van, identified as Sawyer, was the suspect in both Publix armed robbery incidents.

He was brought in for questioning and cooperated with detectives. Detectives also discovered Sawyer was driving on a suspended license and stole the white van from a work site in Orlando.

Based on the evidence and information he provided, Sawyer, a registered felon according to county spokesperson Twis Lizasuain, was arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail.
