Hogsten

St. Cloud police Wednesday arrested Thomas M. Hogsten and charged him with possession of a controlled substance and possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell.

Hogsten, 41, of 2890 Nele Road in Kissimmee, was pulled over around 12:45 p.m. in his 1998 black 4-door vehicle for failing to wear his seat belt when a K-9 officer noticed movement in the car, spokeswoman Sgt. Denise Roberts said.

Further investigation revealed that Hogsten was in possession of 12.4 grams of methamphetamine and $2,580 in cash. The money discovered was confiscated pending forfeiture proceeding. He also had a suspended drivers license, Roberts said.

The investigation on this case is still ongoing, with additional charges pending.

Hogsten remained in the Osceola County Jail Friday on no bond.

He has a long criminal history in Osceola County with more than 20 traffic violations dating back to 1989 including driving while on a suspended license as well as having multiple drug and other felony charges, according to the Osceola County Clerk of Courts Office.

In 1991, he was charged with burglary of a conveyance and in 1996, he was charged with battery.

Hogsten was charged with aggravated stalking with a credible threat and attempted carjacking in 2007 but those charges were later dropped. That same year, he had a temporary domestic violence injunction brought against him.

In March, he was arrested and charged with possession of  methamphetamine with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia but those charges were also dropped.

However, Hogsten is scheduled for trial Tuesday on a delivery of methamphetamine charge, also from March.
