BRONSON - Betty Jane Bronson, 64, of St. Cloud, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012.

Bronson_RichardBRONSON - Richard O’Dell Bronson, 82, of St. Cloud, FL, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012 following a very long illness.

A member of a pioneer Osceola County family, O’Dell was born February 21, 1930 and was a lifelong resident of Osceola County, the son of Troy O’Dell and Marguerite Ivey Bronson. O’Dell welcomed both the social elite and the underdog to his table. His ambition, vision and determination led to his success as an iconic local builder/developer, citrus grower and cattle rancher.

He was an avid fundraiser for the Osceola County YMCA, Lake Highland Preparatory School, First United Methodist Church of Kissimmee, as well as many other charitable organizations. He represented the Central Florida YMCA Indian Princess as Chief Iron Horse. He was a member of The United States Army Reserves, National Home Builders Association, Florida Citrus Mutual, University of Florida Bull Gator Club, Osceola County Chamber of Commerce, Osceola High School Boosters Club, Osceola Golden Brahmas Football Club, Florida Sheriff’s Association and The Doctor Dudley Johnson Heart Foundation.

O’Dell was the builder and an original member of The Board of Directors of The Flagship Bank of Kissimmee. O’Dell was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend and is survived by his wife of 62 years, Madelyn K. Bronson; daughters, Renee Bronson (Gary Mogensen) and Cynthia L. Bronson; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, William H. (Connie), Troy S. (Ruth); sisters, Geraldine McDowell, Della Jackson. O’Dell was preceded in death by his son, Richard O’Dell Bronson, Jr., his granddaughter, Lindsey Anne Hendrix, and his son-in-law, Daniel Maurice Tarrell.

The family respectfully requests that should you wish to contribute food, please donate to the First United Methodist Church of Kissimmee Sunday Night Program or the Food Pantry.

Memorial services were held 2 P.M., Tuesday, July 17, 2012 in the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church, Kissimmee.

Interment was in the Christus Garden at Osceola Memory Gardens Cemetery.

ROBERTS - Mr. Curt Roberts, 58, of Castle Rock, Colorado (formerly of Kissimmee and St. Cloud), passed away   Saturday, July 14th, 2012  in St. Cloud surround by his loving family.

Curt was born in Ashland, KT and moved to the Central Florida Area at a young age. He graduated from Osceola High School in 1971 and then attended Florida State University.  Curt was in the communications industry which  eventually lead him to Colorado, where he so loved the mountains.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ina N. Goldino Roberts, sons, Chris K. (Zuzana) Harper, Jeffrey L. Roberts, mother, Anita C. Roberts, brother, Terry (Annette) Roberts.  He was preceded in death by his father, Ford W. Roberts in 1990.

Funeral Services for Curt was held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 in Chapel of Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Kissimmee with Pastor Jim Callen of Eastern Avenue Baptist Church officiating.  Private entombment will follow the services.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17 at the funeral home.

RoszkowskiROZKOWSKI - Stanley Walter Roszkowski, 75, of Kissimmee, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012. He was the Husband of Jacqueline Residence. Stanley was born in Port Chester, New York on June 25, 1937, the son of the late Walter John and Anna Caroline (Sarafin) Roszkowski.
He served in the U.S. Army. Stanley is survived by three Daughters, Vanessa Mercedes (Jon) Chegwidden of Hamburg, NJ, Bernadette Ann Lorentz of St. Cloud, FL, and Danielle Samantha (Michael) Conley of Orlando, FL; two Sons Ryan Joseph Roszkowski of Orlando, FL and Christian Adam (Dinah) Roszkowski of Kissimmee, FL; Uncle in-law, Richard Hanson of Kissimmee, FL; 12 Grandchildren; Laura, Paul, Aimee, Kaitlin, Joseph, Jamie, Kendra, Jasmine, Olivia, Liam, Destiny and Divine; 4 Great Grandchildren; Brittany, Zoey, Alysa and Devin; Beloved Granddog Shakespeare; and Grandcats, Cream and Grace. Stanley will be dearly missed.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Thursday, July 19, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., with entombment to follow at Osceola Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Staley_JohnSTALEY - John “Mr. Bill“ Staley, 81, formerly of Ferris, IL., died Friday, July 13, 2012 at his home in St. Cloud, FL.

Bill was born September 5, 1930 in Burnside, IL, the son of Emma and Berlie Staley.  On November 24, 1949, he was married to Jean Riley in Keokuk, Iowa. She survives. Other survivors include 3 sons, Lyle (JoAnn) of Topeka, KS, Ken of Pekin, IL, Glenn (Andrea) of Aurora, IL and Norma Staley of St. Cloud, FL, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, one brother, Dale Staley of Hampton, VA and an “adopted” daughter, Judi Crowell of St. Cloud, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, one daughter-in-law (Carla) and one grandson (Joshuah.) Bill worked briefly for the Santa Fe and the Illinois Central Railroads.  He then went to work at Drydens / Sheller-Globe in Keokuk, IA before retiring in 1983 after 24 years of service due to health reasons. Bill and Jean then moved to St. Cloud, FL where he enjoyed his membership in The First United Methodist Church of St. Cloud.  He enjoyed working with their preschool, helping with Elmer’s Kitchen and being President of the United Methodist Men’s organization.  He worked in the Publix bakery and enjoyed playing Santa Claus for them and other organizations in the local area.

A memorial service was held for family and friends at The First United Methodist Church at 1000 Ohio Avenue in St. Cloud on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 10:30 a.m.

 VANDENBERG- Lyle DeWayne Vandenberg, 82, of Moultrie passed away at his residence on Saturday, July 14, 2012.  A private memorial service will be held for Mr. Vandenberg at a later date.

Born on November 12, 1929 in Superior, Wisconsin to Jack and Stella Hubell Vandenberg, he is preceded in death by his parents; and also preceded in death by two daughters, Divona Jean Griffin and Linda Christine Vandenberg; one son, Terry Gordon Vandenberg and one granddaughter, Brittany Leigh Vandenberg.

Surviving Mr. Vandenberg is his wife, Fay Sellers Vandenberg of Moultrie; one daughter and son-in-law Sharon Vandenberg and Vinny Nassef of Moultrie; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Rodney Vandenberg of St. Cloud, Florida; Jeff  and Angel Vandenberg of Kissimmee, Florida; Jacob and Joanne Vandenberg of Kissimmee, Florida; five brothers, one sister, 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Mr. Vandenberg was a college graduate who served as an officer in the United States Navy for 23 years as a nuclear engineer and plank owner aboard the USS Bainbridge, which was the first nuclear powered frigate in the U. S. Navy.  He served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and in Vietnam.  After retiring from the military, he served as a master electrician for Sea World nationwide, and later accepted a position as professor at TECO College in Kissimmee, Florida.
