Public Services Electronics/Instrument Technician Larry Daniel is the city of St. Cloud Employee of the Month for May. Daniel was recognized during a regular council meeting at City Hall June 28 for volunteering to help the city save money.

“Larry deserves citywide recognition for saving the city more than $50,000,” said Interim Public Services Administrator Veronica Miller. “He performed a job that, if outsourced, could have cost the city anywhere between $75,000 and $100,000. Outside his normal duties, Larry built an automatic system that allows operators at Water Plant No. 4 to communicate remotely with Water Plant No. 2. The operators can now remotely monitor the water pumps, chlorine, and all associated treatment equipment. Without the system, operators had to travel between both plants. This system creates a high-efficiency operation that saves time and money. The savings are endless; we can now save in man-hours, on vehicle wear and tear, and in any associated expenses. We commend Larry for his hard work, motivation, and spirit of cooperation.”
