The New York Artist Shop, 1124 New York Ave., St. Cloud, is featuring Latin American Artist MiPagan as the artist of the month.

MiPagan was born in New York City. His family was filled with artists and craftsmen.

“I believe that I was born into the right environment; my mother would always have clay, pencils, and small things to stimulate creativity, along with all the family members involved in making some form of art,” he said. “I never attended a formal art school. My schools were the many art galleries and museums of New York City. I am self-taught. My teachers were the many painters and individuals I encountered throughout my life and travels.”

“It is my belief that my work should always pay homage to those from whom I learned so much, that it should always question social norms and challenge my vision of how to present that artistically. I attempt to create works that I hope stimulate discourse, hopefully in a humorous, serious, and enlightening manner.”

The New York Artists Shop hosts a free-featured artist reception on the third Friday of every month. Browse through a unique and eclectic display of artwork offered by many different local artists.
