City of St. Cloud Parks and Recreation’s aquatics staff announced today the city’s swimming pool at the Chris Lyle Aquatic Center, 3001 17th St., is closed until noon Tuesday due to a to fecal incident, city officials said.

In accordance with the state of Florida Health Department, pool water must be chlorinated and filtered for 24 hours after an incident of this type occurs, spokeswoman Sandra Ramirez said. Chlorine kills germs and helps prevent recreational water illnesses.

“The 24-hour pool closure is necessary for proper disinfection and protection of the health and safety of all swimmers,” Ramirez said.
