Osceola County Sheriff's deputies with the Tourist Policing Unit arrested five burglary suspects on June 8 after the iPads they stole tracked their location.

The investigation began on June 8 at approximately 8:58 p.m., when patrol deputies responded to 4768 Blue Diamond Street in Kissimmee. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the victims who said they returned home and noticed the rear sliding glass door was unlocked and several electronic items, including two iPads were missing. They valued the stolen property at approximately $6,500 and they told detectives the iPads had a computer application that would track their location.

Using the application, detectives were able to locate the iPads at Richard Pellegrino's home at 2364 Flamingo Lakes Drive in Kissimmee. Initially, when detectives spoke with Pellegrino, he indicated an unknown male who was selling the iPads approached him. Later, he told detectives that his roommate, Jorge Luis Velez, sold him the iPads, along with other electronic equipment. After further investigation, detectives determined Velez; his wife, Yadiria Medina-Rivera 33, his daughter, Kimberly Velez, 22, and Hector Melendez, 24, an acquaintance, planned the burglary. Based on the information and evidence obtained during the investigation, all five suspects were arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail.

Pellegrino was charged with dealing in stolen property, possession of cannabis under 20 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Medina-Rivera, of 2354 Flamingo Lakes Drive, Kissimmee, was charged with burglary, structure and grand theft.

Kimberly Ann Velez, of 1112 Cobblestone Circle, Kissimmee, was charged with residential burglary, grand theft and trafficking in stolen property.

Melendez, of 1112 Cobblestone Circle, Kissimmee, was charged with residential burglary, grand theft, trafficking in stolen property and violation of probation unoccupied burglary.

Jorge Luis Velez, 41, of 2354 Flamingo Lakes Drive, Kissimmee, was charged with burglary structure and grand theft.
