Registered felon Malcolm Jamaal Robins was arrested Friday and charged with attempted murder after police said he shot at a woman from his car as she and her family walked down U.S. Highway 192.

Ivette Lopez told Osceola County Sheriff’s Office deputies she, her boyfriend, Hector Carlo, and their 1year-old son were walking down west U.S. Highway 192 around 1 p.m. Friday, when Robins pulled up in a brown SUV, pulled out a gun, shot at her and sped away.

A small caliber shell casing was recovered by investigators at the scene of the incident.

Lopez told deputies there had been “bad blood” between Carlo and Robins for some time and it had grown worse over time.

Carlo told deputies he refused to prosecute and wanted to “handle everything his own way,” adding he and Robins have issues about Lopez and had gotten into an physical altercation where Carlo had “knocked out” Robins. Carlo further told investigators Robins was attempting to take revenge because of the fight by shooting at Lopez.

Officers located Robins, 20, at his mother’s house, 2710 Bradley Dr. in Poinciana, and found the brown Chervolet SUV matching Lopez’s description. The vehicle is registered to Robins’ mother.

While at the home, deputies took into evidence a locked safe and an empty gun holster.

Robins did not cooperate with the investigation, but based on the victim’s statement and another witness’ statement; and evidence recovered, Robins was charged with attempted murder and booked into the Osceola County Jail on no bond.

During the investigation, deputies discovered Robins also had a felony warrant for a previous burglary, on which he was also arrested.

According to court records, Robins previously was sentenced to 30 days in the Osceola County Jail after an arrest in Feb. 2011 for possession of cannabis less than 20 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Additionally, Robins was arrested in June 2011 and charged with delivery of cocaine, resisting an officer without violence, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of cannabis with intent to sell and possession of a firearm with an altered serial number.

He was sentenced to 180 days in jail for resisting an officer without violence and possession of cocaine with intent to sell. The other charges were dropped.
