A Kissimmee man was involved in a fatal crash Friday in Orange County that killed an Apopka motorcyclist.

According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, Christopher Hudmon, 52, of Kissimmee, was driving a 2002 Ford van eastbound on Lee Road at about 8:45 a.m. Meanwhile, Luis Escalera, 21, of Apopka, was driving a 2011 Yamaha motorcycle westbound on Lee Road in the center lane, exceeding the speed limit, Highway Patrol reports said.

Hudmon then drove into the left lane to turn north onto Edgewater Drive. As he attempted to make the left turn, he drove into the path of Escalera, reports said. The front of the motorcycle struck the rear of the van.

Escalera was taken to Florida Hospital South where he was pronounced dead. Hudmon was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
