Osceola County Sheriff's deputies recently completed a two-day traffic operation which led to the arrest of two South Florida suspects after 37 pounds of marijuana were found hidden in their vehicle.
The operation, conducted by the Osceola County Sheriff's Office and Osceola County Investigative Bureau, was held March 28-29 along the Florida's Turnpike and targeted highway drug traffickers attempting to transport illegal drugs across the state.
On March 29, deputies conducted a traffic stop on two vehicles that appeared to be traveling together southbound on the turnpike. As OCIB agents approached the vehicle, a K-9 dog alerted to the odor of illegal narcotics. Agents recovered approximately 37 pounds of marijuana hidden in the doors and back hatch of the Ford Expedition. Agents also took $4,000 dollars cash into evidence. James Norman Myles, 23, of Miami, and Jeffery Stoner Miller, 23, of Key Biscayne, were arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana over 25 pounds and conspiracy to traffic marijuana over 25 pounds. The investigation is ongoing with additional charges pending.
The total results from the two-day operation are as follows: 301 traffic stops, 5 criminal citations, 117 traffic citations and 4 arrests.
