A one-vehicle crash on West U.S. Highway 192 and World Drive in Osceola County Friday evening claimed the life of Christian Hernandez Martinez, 18, of Clermont, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The report stated that at about 11:25 p.m. Hernandez, driving a 1994 Honda, was westbound on the highway approaching the off ramp for World Drive when he lost control and drove onto the shoulder where he overcorrected, struck a speed limit sign, went across the ramp, traveled into the air, overturned, struck a cement bridge embankment, continuing to overturn. The vehicle ended up in a retention lake.

Hernandez was taken to Florida Hospital Celebration where he died. A female passenger, Darnel Gallego, 18, also of Clermont, received serious injures and was taken to the hospital.
