Kissimmee police this week arrested two Kissimmee men on attempted murder charges.

On Feb. 19, Kissimmee police officers responded to 306 Lesesne St. in Kissimmee in reference to an aggravated battery. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim, a 33-year-old man, was transported to Florida Hospital Kissimmee by a friend. Detectives met with the victim at the hospital and he stated that while he was sitting inside his residence with his front door open, Derrick Deshawn Wilkerson, 18, of 304 Lesesne St., and Javaris Lamonte Florestial, 21, of 1640 Kendrick Drive Apt. D, entered his home without permission.

According Kissimmee Police Department spokeswoman Stacie Miller, the victim stated that Wilkerson pointed a handgun at his head and was accusing him of being involved in an altercation on Feb. 17 at Teresa's Bar. The victim explained to Wilkerson he was not involved in the altercation. As Wilkerson and Florestial were leaving the residence, Wilkerson turned back around and shot the victim in the leg.

Wilkerson and Florestial fled the scene. Detectives were able to obtain arrest warrants for Wilkerson and Florestial charging them with attempted felony murder, armed occupied burglary, aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit attempted felony murder, conspiracy to commit armed occupied burglary and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.

The Osceola County Sheriff Office arrested Florestial on Monday and the Kissimmee Police Department's Tactical Investigative Unit arrested Wilkerson today. Both were transported to the Osceola County Jail and are being held without bond.
