Gov. Rick Scott will be in Kissimmee today to participate in an Osceola County government announcement about a project that will create new jobs.

The announcement is set for noon at the Florida Cattlemen's Association, 800 Shakerag Road.

According to published reports, Scott is expected to announce that Colt, a firearms manufacturing company, will open a new plant in the county that is expected to bring hundreds of jobs.

The site for the plant would be along Shady Lane, on the site of the former Osceola County Council on Aging facility. The Osceola County Economic Development office would not confirm or deny the published reports.

The governor is then scheduled to visit Neptune Middle School from 1:30 to 3 p.m. for a roundtable discussion with a group of about 15 teachers.

Scott from 5 to 5:30 p.m. will be at the annual Manufacturers Summit and Marketplace at the Hyatt Regency at Orlando International Airport.
