Osceola High began the 2011 wrestling season in dominating fashion by winning the Marvin Haven Turkey Duals, 5-0, at the Kowboys gym last weekend.

 

Osceola, the 2009 Class 3A state champion and the state runner-up last year, lost only two individual matches on its way to the championship.

The Kowboys defeated Bishop Moore (79-0), Sebring (82-0), Seffner Armwood (74-6), Palm Bay (74-0) and Viera (72-3).

Palm Bay was the runner-up.

Hakeem Butler (113), Cody Dana (120), Juan Arroyave (126), Tim Locksmith (132), Fox Baldwin (138), Paul Zupofska (145/152), Miguel Crespo (145/152), Spencer Lacey (160), Chris Pagan (170), Jhalen Flanders (182), Rahad Marshall (220) and Franklyn Lantigua (285) all were unbeaten at the tournament for OHS.

Deven Acevedo (106) and Ben Cruz (195) were 4-1 at the tournament.

Celebration also got its season off to an impressive start by winning four of five matches at the Mulberry Duals.

The Storm beat Tampa Prep (54-15), Auburndale (39-31), Lakewood Ranch (39-30) and McKeel Academy (49-20).

Its loss was against Lemon Bay, 35-45.

J.J. Francis (152-160) and Alvaro Norena (285) each were 5-0 at the tournament. Both have overall records of 7-0.

Skylar Lerner (152-160) pinned three opponents while compiling a 4-1 tournament record.

Also winning four times for Celebration were Nigel Jolliffie (106), Wilfredo Colon (113), Tyler Phelan (170), Andy Devilla (182) and Brandon Guererro (220).

Celebration competed at the Flagler Palm Coast Duals Wednesday.
