DENT – Nellie Jane Dent,  79, of St. Cloud passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at St. Cloud Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Dent was a homemaker. Born in Point Marion, Pennsylvania she lived in St. Cloud for many years. Nellie graduated from Point Marion High School and after her marriage to Bob in 1950 she resided in Morgantown, W. VA., until they retired to Florida.
She was involved in activities with her children among which were Brownies, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts,  home room mother, and directing playground activities during the summer. She held various jobs but one she was noted for was supervising the dish room at the towers at West Virginia University. She was given the name “Ma” by the students she supervised and it was by that name that many knew her by.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Robert “Bob” Dent, sons, Charlie Dent, Jeffrey Ross Dent, brothers, Richard O. Johnson, Jack L. Johnson and sister Natalie Ruth Johnson.
She is survived by her loving family, daughters, Cindy Williams (Tim) of St. Cloud,  Kathy  Shipe (Art) of Blytewood, S.C. ,sons, Bob Dent (Debbie) of Kissimmee, Sam Dent of Kissimmee and daughter-in-law Teresa Dent of Davenport, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A service will be held in Point Marion, PA. at a later date. Arrangements  under the direction of Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 2000 13th St., St. Cloud, Fl. 34769. (407) 957-2511.

HILEMAN – Rick Hileman, 60, passed away February 15, 2008. Born in Hamilton, Ohio, he is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Ann, son, Mike with his wife Sabrina, daughter, Michelle Gomez and four grandchildren: Brittany and Ashley Gomez, and Kimberly and Logan Hileman.
Visitation for Rick was Tuesday, February 19th from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with a funeral service immediately following at 2:00 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home, Kissimmee. His inurnment service will be held in private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, 2701 Maitland Center Parkway, Maitland, Florida 32751

JOHNSTON – Howard Blake Johnston, 91, of Kissimmee, died February 18, 2008, at Osceola Regional Medical Center. Blake was a near lifetime resident of Florida. He was born on February 2, 1917, in Elton Municipality near Brandon, Manitoba, Canada to Herbert Marmaduke and Amelia Jane Bird Johnston. The family, which at the time included Blake and his older brothers Harry and Cecil, moved to the Shingle Creek area west of Kissimmee in 1920, as Blake’s father turned from wheat farming in Manitoba to citrus growing in Florida. The family grew with the addition of 3 younger siblings, Ida, Jim, and Helen.
Blake attended school in Kissimmee, graduating from Osceola High School in 1934. He matriculated to the University of Florida, graduating in 1938 with a degree in vocational agriculture. He taught vo-ag in Chiefland, FL, from 1938 to 1940 followed by a term teaching science in Fort Meade, FL, in 1941, and vo-ag in Trenton and Bell, FL, in 1942.
Blake served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was stationed out of Allied Force Headquarters for the Mediterranean theater in Algiers, North Africa, and later out of Naples, Italy. Among his duties, he served as a courier between Algiers and Italy with trips to Greece and France as well.
After his discharge from the Army, Blake taught math for a term at Osceola High School. He again matriculated to the University of Florida in 1946, graduating with a Master of Science degree in soil science in 1948. He went to work with the U.S.D.A. Soil Conservation Service in Arcadia, FL that year. He was transferred to Stuart, FL, in the early 1950s. There he married Mildred O’Neal Epton on April 12, 1953. Daughter Nancy was born the next year. The family moved to Kissimmee in 1956 after Blake purchased a citrus grove from his grandfather in the Shingle Creek area. Daughter Sarah was born in 1957. Blake went back to work with the Soil Conservation Service in Kissimmee in 1964. He continued to work these 2 jobs until his retirement from the government in 1978.
Blake was a charter member of the Shingle Creek United Methodist Church where he was formerly Chairman of the Board of Trustees and the Building Committee.
Blake is preceded in death by his wife Mildred, brothers Harry and Cecil, and sisters Ida and Helen. He is survived by daughter Nancy DuPree (Bill), of Atlanta, GA, and daughter Sarah Miller (Steve) and their son Blake of Missoula, MT, as well as his brother Jim Johnston (Donna) of Barnard, MO. He is also survived by his special friends and caregivers Bobbye and Mickey Sandifer of Haines City.
A viewing was held at Grissom Funeral Home, Friday, February 22, 2008, 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 23, 2008, 11 a.m. at Shingle Creek United Methodist Church, 2420 Old Vineland Road, Kissimmee, FL 34746. Interment to follow at Osceola Memory Gardens in Kissimmee.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home, 51 Main St., Enterprise, FL 32725 or the Shingle Creek United Methodist Church.

JUWA – Marian Julia Juwa, 84, died at her home on Walton Place after a long illness
Marian was born in Schenectady, NY the daughter of the late William and Helen Matuck.  After graduation from Mt. Pleasant high school, she worked in the payroll department for G.E. in Schenectady.  She left to be a housewife and raise her children until in the 1960’s she returned to G.E. to work in the Industrial Clinic until retiring in 1985.
Marian and her husband loved to travel, go on cruises; she enjoyed gardening, fresh water fishing, picking strawberries on the Suski farm, making applesauce, jam and canning tomatoes for everyone.  Marian enjoyed watching the NY Yankee games. 
She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She took care of her husband Ted for many years prior to his death in 2006.  Marian was a real family person and her family always came first.  Before her illness, she attended mass at St. Joseph’s Church in Scotia and was a member of its Rosary Society.
In addition to her husband Thaddeus, Marian was predeceased by her sisters: Helen Kaszubski and Julia Przybylo.
Marian is survived by her children: Gregory D Juwa (Ava) of Winchester, MA, Jeffery J. Juwa (Barbara) of Richmond, VA, and Joan J. Juwa of Kissimmee, FL; her grandchildren: Tara M. Salvietti (David), and Bryan F. Juwa; her great grandchildren:  Audra Rose Salvietti, Kaden David Salvietti, and Brogan Thaddeus Salvietti; and her sister Virginia Szumigala (Stanley). 
Funeral services began at 8:15 a.m. on Friday, February 22, from the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Glen­ville, NY and were followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, First Street, Scotia, NY.  Relatives and friends were invited to calling hours at the funeral home on Thursday, February 21, from 6 to 8 p.m.  Burial was in St. Anthony’s Cemetery Glenridge Rd. Glenville.

ORNOFF – Anita Ornoff Dies at 86; Author, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother.
Anita died peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at 4:00 p. m. after suffering two heart attacks the week before.  She  leaves behind her beloved husband: Harold (Hal) Ornoff, two daughters, Ellen Treem and Naomi Willey, five grandchildren (Meredeth Dash, Toby Treem, Joseph Willey, Isaac Treem and Jeffery Treem) and one great-grandson (Simon Dash).
Anita was born in Paterson, N. J. May 30, 1921. She volunteered in the Woman’s Auxiliary Army Corp (WAAC) in 1943 at the age of 21 and became paralyzed from the waist down soon after she finished basic training. Anita spent 3-1/2 years in the Bronx VA hospital for rehabilitation. While there, she became the first female to pass her drivers test using hand controls. When she applied, as all GI’s did, for her new car she was informed that she was not part of the Army and therefore was not entitled. She fought the US Government for 9 years and won her case when President Eisenhower signed a bill giving her and others GI benefits in 1954.

Anita grew up in Suffern, N.Y. where she was considered a “tom boy” excelling in swimming, tennis, and walking. She graduated from Suffern High School at age 17 and became a salesgirl at a prominent Shoe Store in Passaic N. J., became the store manager at the age of 20 and then volunteered in the WAAC. Her memoir gives a detailed account of the life of a girl, who, although paralyzed, was able through her courage, inner strength and positive attitude to lead a full life as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Anita was an inspiration for others to do the same.

SMITH – Marsha Nelson Smith, 63, of Livingston, Montana died at Billings Deaconess Hospital on February 5, 2008. Marsha was born in Glasgow, Montana on June 4, 1944.
Marsha was a strong and beautiful woman, who dedicated her entire life to helping other people. Marsha was a very talented person who was able to fix and do literally anything. She enjoyed tumbling and cutting rocks and agates, to make jewelry, and she was a master seamstress. Marsha was able to mend anything that was brought to her, including a broken heart.
She dedicated all of her being to her five children: Twila and Lee Hillman, Tammy Lewis, George Hyde, and Julie Cruz. Marsha was a woman of strong compassion for others and possessed an unconditional, undying love for all.
After being born in Glasgow, Montana, she then moved to Bozeman. From Montana, she moved to Florida residing in Tampa and Saint Cloud.  In August 2005, Marsha moved back to Livingston, Montana, where she resided until she passed away.
Marsha made an impact on many lives, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  Although Marsha is no longer with us, her memories of being a beautiful Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend, will live on forever.
Marsha is survived by Twila Hillman, Lee (Jessica) Hillman, Tammy (Roy) Lewis, Julie (Daniel) Cruz-Livingston, MT., George (Corie) Hyde-Rifle, CO., and numerous grandchildren. Ralph (Rhea) Nelson-Manhattan, MT., Donna Rennick-Glasgow, MT., Marie Hobby-Marietta, GA, Brent (Elouise) Nelson-Zephyrhills, FL.
Cremation has already taken place and services will be held at Bell Funeral Home, 701 South 2nd Street in Glasgow, Montana on April 12, 2008, at 2 p.m.
