Harmony’s boys (272.5) placed second at the 2A-3 regional swimming meet at St. Petersburg Saturday and qualified 10 swimmers and divers for the Class 2A state meet at the Orlando International Y next Saturday.

Sophomore Luke Roberts qualified in two individual events and two relays for the Longhorns, who finished behind Tampa Jesuit (348) in the team standings.

The Lady Longhorns were sixth (134) and will send diver Jordan Miller (336.3) to the state meet.

At the 3A-1 regional at Jacksonville, Osceola High diver Jordan Parrish (365.10) advanced to the Class 3A state meet today at the Orlando Y.

Advancing for the Harmony boys are the 200 medley relay (Luke Roberts, Brandon Graber, Sam Steele, Brice Howard, 1:42.27); the 200 free relay (Jesse Tetreault, Brice Howard, Justin Kennedy, John Roberts, 1:32.94) and the 400 free relay (Luke Roberts, Mitchell Mungall, Sam Steele, John Roberts, 3:22.24).

Luke Roberts qualified individually in the 50 free (22.18) and 100 free (49.22).

Brandon Graber will compete individually in the 100 breast stroke (1:02.51).

Harmony divers Larry McVicker (418.90)  and Christian Smith (349.90) also compete Saturday.

“We are  proud of our swimmers and divers and can’t wait to see what they do at state,” Harmony boys coach Terry Brown said.

Osceola Coach Krystle Singleton said Parrish broke Alex Brown’s 11-dive record from 2005.

“Jordan was in the toughest region in the state and earned a berth,” Singleton said. “Jordan Copeland took ninth, and had she been in the top eight with the points she also would have qualified.”

Osceola’s Paul Gursky broke the school record in the 100 free (49.80) and had a PR in the 50 free (22.94) at regionals.
