Swimmers from Harmony and St. Cloud compete at the 2A-3 regional in St. Petersburg today with an opportunity to advance to next week’s state meet.

Harmony’s boys and girls won the 2A District 7 championships at Winter Haven’s Rowdy Gaines Swimming Complex last week and will send two dozen competitors to today’s regional. The diving competition was held Friday.

Harmony’s boys won for the fifth time in eight seasons. It was the Lady Longhorns’ first district championship.

Harmony’s girls won the 200 free relay (1:53.05) and 400 free relay (4:14.11) and the 200 medley relay. The boys won the 400 free relay (3:25.19).

Hopefully, we will advance several onto state and at the indoor venue (the Orlando International Y, site of the state meet) we hope to see a marked improvement in times.”

St. Cloud also will be represented at the 2A-3 regional as Samantha Deason won the 200 IM championship (2:32.46) and also qualified in the breast stroke (1:15.92).
