Horns, Dogs advance

Harmony and St. Cloud advanced to the 7A District 6 volleyball championship game today at 6:30 p.m. at St. Cloud by winning semifinal round games Tuesday.

Harmony (18-8), the No. 1 seed and the defending champion, easily dispatched Celebration, 3-0, and St. Cloud (14-12), the No. 2 seed, eliminated Oak Ridge, 3-0.

The winner of today’s match will host the 7A-5 runner-up in the regionals Tuesday. The loser will travel to the 7A-5 champion.

Gateway defeated Poinciana, 3-0, Tuesday in the 7A-5 quarterfinal round at Poinciana. It played Lake Minneola Wednesday for a berth in today’s district championship game at Poinciana, starting at 5 p.m.

Osceola met East Ridge, a 3-0 winner over Liberty Tuesday, in the other semifinal game.

Life, City of Life

Life Christian Academy, 0-7 after a loss at Windermere Prep last week, travels to Boca Raton Christian Friday at 7 p.m. It's final home game is Nov. 4 against All Saints Academy.

City of Life Christian, 0-7, hosts Hernando at 4:30 p.m. Friday on campus as part of the school's homecoming and Roktoberfest activities.

Charger fundraiser

The Liberty High School athletic department is holding its first Charger Drive 1 For Your School Fall Festival Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the front parking lot.

Ford is bringing 25 vehicles (including Fiesta, Focus, Taurus, Fusion, Escape, Explorer, Edge, F150, Ranger, Super Duty and Expedition) to the school for the event.

For each test drive taken, Ford will donate $20 to the Liberty athletic program to a maximum of 300 test drives.

Anyone age 18 or older with a driver's license may participate at no charge.

Kiss. flag football

The city of Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registration for the Kissimmee Youth Flag Football League which runs from Jan. 1 through Feb. 18.

Registration ($60, including a jersey) is open from Nov. 1 through Dec. 16. After Dec. 16, the late fee is $10 and is subject to availability.

Practices will be held on Saturdays for one hour, followed by one game. The games will be held at the Denn John Field. A tournament is scheduled Feb. 25 for the top teams. Teams are divided by age groups.

Registration is accepted in person weekdays from noon to 5:30 p.m. at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex at 2500 Fortune Road. Registration also may be completed online at www.kissimmeeparks.org. For more information, call 407-518-2504.

Gingerbread run

The Give Kids The World 5K Gingerbread Run is Nov. 5 at Give Kids the World Village at 210 S. Bass Road.

Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. The race begins at 8 a.m. Registration is $25 per participant and $10 per junior participant. To register, visit www.gingerbreadrun.org.
