Harmony Drive One

Harmony High and Kisselback Ford are participating in the Drive One 4 UR School fundraising program today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Harmony High.

For each test drive, Kisselback Ford will make a $20 donation to the high school athletic program.

Youth flag football

The city of Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Department is extending the registration deadline for the Kissimmee Youth Flag Football League to Friday.

The registration fee is $90, which includes a jersey. Registration received after October 14, will include a $10 late fee and will be subject to availability.

Registration is accepted in person weekdays from noon to 5:30 p.m. at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex, calling 407-518-2504 or visiting www.kissimmeeparks.org.

Practices are Saturdays for one hour, followed by one game. The games will be played at the Denn John Turf Field.

The season runs from Oct. 29 through Dec. 10, followed by a tournament Dec. 17 for the top teams.

Chandler’s golf

The 2nd Annual Chandler Clark Memorial Golf Challenge will be Oct. 29 at Royal St. Cloud Golf Club.

The $60 fee includes lunch and a gift bag. Proceeds benefit the Chandler Clark Memorial Trust which provides scholarships to high school students and promotes awareness of the dangers of teen violence.

Make a difference

Harmony and St. Cloud high schools again will participate in national Make A Difference Day Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Students from the schools will collect donations at St. Cloud area Winn Dixie and Publix supermarkets to be delivered to the St. Cloud Food Pantry.

The locations:

Winn Dixie, Canoe Creek: St. Cloud High softball team, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Harmony High softball team, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Publix, Canoe Creek: St. Cloud High girls basketball, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Harmony National Honor Society, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Winn Dixie, Narcoosee Road: Harmony High baseball, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Harmony Class of 2012, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Publix, Narcoosee Road: Harmony High baseball, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Harmony High football: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Over the past five years, the schools have made $4,000 in cash donations to the Food Pantry in addition to several truckloads of food.

Family golf festival

Falcon’s Fire Golf Club will host its second annual Family Golf Festival Oct. 15.

The Marriott International Family Golf Festival, which encourages parents and children to learn and play the game together, invites families to Falcon’s Fire Golf Club for an afternoon of free golf clinics on driving, irons, chipping, putting and sand play.

Contests and chances to win free rounds of golf will also be featured.

Additionally, adults can enjoy a special golf rate of $49, while kids can golf for free all day with a paying adult as part of the Kids Golf-4-Free initiative.

More Than Basketball, Inc. offers boys and girls basketball teams for ages 7U, 9U, 11U 13U and 15U.

The organization’s primary focuses are to teach children fundamental basketball skills, build confidence and provide organized and structured support and encouragement for educational achievement and the development of life skills.

Gingerbread run

The Give Kids The World 5K Gingerbread Run is Nov. 5 at Give Kids the World Village at 210 S. Bass Road.

Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. The race begins at 8 a.m.

All participants must park at Walmart Supercenter located 4444 W. Vine Street and take a shuttle to the race site.

Registration is $25 per participant and $10 per junior participant (aged 3-12) with each paying adult.
