Bulk Nation has arrived in Kissimmee and you many never shop the same way again.

Shopping becomes a whole new experience thanks to the recently opened Bulk Nation store, just off Osceola Parkway, near the Walmart.

At Bulk Nation almost everything is sold in bins, and there are some 1,000 food items to choose from, including everything from apricots (dried) to zest of lemon, and everything in between.

Remember that time you baked a cake and just needed a handful of those silvery candied balls for decorating, but wound up spending $5 for a whole package you will probably never need again?

That is exactly the kind of thing that Bulk Nation is great for. You can just buy as many as you need, at just a fraction of the cost.

The Kissimmee franchise (there are currently two stores in Central Florida) is owned by recent Canadian transplant Greg Knudsen, who will be very hands-on at the business now that he has moved to Central Florida. The Kissimmee shop opened about two months ago.

Knudsen thinks Bulk Nation will be a pleasant shopping experience for every member of the family. Youngsters are going to love to see all that candy, from chocolate covered raisins and caramels and even their favorite kind of cereals.

Adults will like the nostalgic feel of the place, in addition to all that variety.

“We have a lot of candies and sodas,” from an earlier era, he said. It is like those good ol’ days when penny candy could be found at neighborhood stores just about everywhere.

Shopping is simple. It is just the choosing that will be difficult. Say you are in looking for some rice. There are about 18 varieties to choose from at Bulk Nation. You pick the rice you want, scoop out the desired amount into the supplied nearby plastic bag. Then you just put a tag closer on it with the product’s corresponding bin number and you are ready for that next selection. Prices are clearly marked, usually by the pound or ounce if you buying spices or something even more exotic like one of the many variety of dried peppers for sale.

After you are done shopping, you can take all your individual bag purchases to the front check out where it is weighed. Service at the shop is friendly and attentive if you need assistance or have any questions.

Make sure you pick up a copy of the Bulk Nation flier, available inside the Osceola News-Gazette and at the store. A new flier is issued every two weeks.

The flier has sale items. The last one featured pistachios for $4.99 a pound; pitted Pakistani dates, $2.95 a pound; mini-orange candy slices, $1.95 a pound; California raisins, $1.93 a pound and many more items at discounted prices. The flier also usually includes a $2 off of purchase coupon for orders of $10 or more. There are about 30 discounted items in the flier.

Also, Tuesday is discount day at Bulk Nation for seniors and students.

There are many other items for sale at Bulk Nation that are not scoop from the bin items, including all natural grind your own peanut butter, local honey and more. Make sure you check out the selection of nostalgic sodas available by the bottle including NeHi, Grapette, and Frostie.

Also you can plan that next party at a discount at the shop. They have piñata supplies available, all you have to do is decide on the type of candy
