Get some Hope for the holidays, Bob Hope collection is a special gift

Know someone who has been very, very good this year?

If you are looking for that extra special present for someone who likes classic television, Time Life has got your gift-giving solved with two great entertainment packages from legendary performers Bob Hope and Red Skelton.

Combining the two talents together, these  sets were more than 100 years in the making.

Thanks for the Memories: The Bob Home Specials Deluxe Collection features 39 Bob Hope specials, including 13 specials from 1956-96  as well as Bob Hope Entertaining the Troops, featuring 10 shows from 1950-93.  And there is still more. Bob Hope: TV Legend is a collection of 16 variety specials from 1958-73. Add one more to that: The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts: Bob Hope.

Here’s a summary of what’s featured in this very special package.

From the Thanks for the Memories, the Specials DVDs: These are compilation shows that spotlight the best moments from 1956-96 including a full-episode of classic bloopers. It also includes Hope’s first show in color, his 90th birthday special, Laughing with the Presidents and the bonus show, Shanks for the Memory, on the world of golf according to Bob Hope.

Bob Hope Entertaining the Troops: Hope was legendary for his long-running visits to servicemen and women. This four-disc set features 10 shows from 1950 to 1993 as Hope traveled the world through the decades. The shows include several USO Christmas specials filmed during the Cold War and Vietnam to the Persian Gulf. The set also contains the holiday-themed DVD Hope for the Holidays, featuring a compilation of the best holiday Christmas sketches as well as the very first Christmas special. Bonus feature: Memories of World War II with rare clips, highlights from Bob Hope’s Armed Forces Network radio show and Hope and guests reminiscing about the era.

Bob Hope TV Legend features eight discs and 16 classic variety specials from 1958-73 with dozens of celebrity guests.

Bonus DVD: The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts: Bob Hope. The bonus disc features his star-studded roast with Martin, Jimmy Stewart, Jack Benny, Milton Berle, Don Rickles and John Wayne.

Other celebrities included in the various specials include Raquel Welch, Desi Arnaz, Barbra Streisand, Ann-Margret, Lucille  Ball, Steve McQueen, Tom Jones, Angie Dickinson, Andy Williams, Redd Foxx, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Lana Turner and more.

The Bob Hope collection includes a 32 page memory books with rare photos and stories comes in a collectors box and has a suggested price of $249.95.

If anyone matches Bob Hope with his TV output, it’s Red Skelton. Time Life is serving up a Deluxe Collection of the comic genius as well.

This is a 22-disc collection with more than 65 hours of fun. There are 130 remastered episodes, divided into three different segments, plus a bonus DVD featuring his farewell specials.

Collection highlights include: The Early Years, with eight discs, 72 episodes of Skelton’s early years on TV, featuring many of his most memorable characters. The Red Skelton Hour in Color, a 10-disc set with 31 rarely seen episodes and musical performances by Frankie Valli, Simon and Garfunkel and more.  The 20th and final season in color, on three discs, with Jerry Lewis, Vincent Price, Robert Wagner and more.

The final bonus DVD features Skelton’s farewell specials  all on one disc.

The Red Skelton Deluxe Collection has a suggested retail price of $199.95 and also includes a collectible memory book. Both the Bob  Hope and Red Skelton collections are available at retail stores now.
