It’s too hot for a picnic. Heck, it’s even too hot for the beach.

So what to do this three-day Labor Day weekend?

Head on over to Raglan Road Irish Pub at Disney Springs and get in on the fun at the 6th annual Great Irish Hooley Festival.

It’s a traditional Irish party, just like they have an Ireland, and at Raglan Road, it includes music, beer, spirits and of course, the Raglan Road menu.

Media got to sample what’s in store at the pub Thursday and it should be a fun time for all.

The pub is always a popular place for food, music and drink, but at the Hooley, the music is almost non-stop, starting at 3 p.m. Friday and continuing until the early morning hours right on until Monday.

We got to see and hear the Lisa Canny Band Thursday, and six-piece outfit, led by Canny on vocals, is well worth the admission price. But the great news is, there isn’t any admission price. Just about everyone you see performing at the event, has his or her roots back in Ireland.

You can check out the complete lineup at to time your visit with the music you are after. Most of it is traditional, but it does vary. Elevation, for example, is probably the most popular U2 tribute band in the world, featuring a huge repertoire of the band’s music.

We got to sample a large portion of the menu offerings, including Ragland Road’s famous fish & chips and braised beef to the Dub Spuds, herb roasted potato wedges served with spicy cheese dip. Drink-wise PJ’s Poison, a gin-based drink, with a citrus blend of added ingredients, is just the right thing to help cool off a hot summer day or night.

And don’t forget dessert. We got to sample four mini desserts you will find on the menu. The bread and butter pudding and Triffle Sinful (a decadent chocolate mousse), were particularly outstanding.

In addition to music inside the pub, there is entertainment on the patio stage and Celtic face painting will also help get you in a Hooley frame on mind. It also is happening throughout the four days of the festival.
