Posted on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 9:29 am

Osceola County officials have authorized a free drop-off site for residents at the former Southport Landfill to take Hurricane Irma-related vegetative debris and construction debris.

The site is located at 4400 Hunt Road, Kissimmee (near Poinciana) and can be accessed from Southport Road at its intersection with Pleasant Hill Road. It is open now.

While the site is free to residents, identification is required. Residents may use their driver’s license or any billing statement, which includes their home address. The site will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., every day of the week. This drop-off site has been added to help expedite the collection process. It is available for residential use only. Businesses will be turned away.

Vegetative debris includes trees, branches and logs. Construction debris includes fencing, shingles, siding, lumber, etc. Be sure to keep vegetative debris and construction debris separated.

Roadside hurricane debris collection began on Sunday. The “Debris Hotline” is available to answer any questions at 855-866-5650.
