There’s still time to catch some great films on the big screen. The Florida Film Festival that began on Friday, April 6, will run through Sunday, April 15.

The annual event has attracted thousands in the past, and is proving itself once again this year with 180+ films and first-class events for guests to enjoy.

Still on the calendar for this year’s festival — along with more films, of course — is the Filmmaker Forum.

The event will host a panel of some of the most talented new independent filmmakers, including Karl Jacob (Cold November), Aly Migliori (“After Her”), Guy Fiorita (Mole Man), Sara Newens (“Footprint”), Christina Parrish (Call Me Brother) and David Howe (Call Me Brother). The panel will discuss their triumph, challenges and creative methods.

Adjunct Professor, Film Department, UCF School of Visual Art & Design and festival selections team member Charles Sutter will moderate the discussion.

This event is free and open to the public. It will be held 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, April 13.

The Awards Bash will take place on Saturday, April 14, celebrating the best of this year’s Florida Film Festival films. Be one of the first to know which films have won the Jury and Audience Awards.

Tickets for the awards are $25 in advance, $30 at the door. A dinner buffet is included in the ticket price and will be served at 4:30 p.m. before the ceremony at 5:30 p.m. The after party at Eden Bar, outside of The Enzian, will begin at 6 p.m.

The Florida Film Festival will close Sunday, April 15, with a pre-movie brunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $13.99 per guest.

All film showings and events are held at The Enzian — Central Florida’s full-time not-for-profit alternative cinema, located at 1300 South Orlando Avenue in Maitland.

The Florida Film Festival is one of only a handful of Oscar-qualifying festivals in the United States in all three shorts categories.
