Fall in for some barbecue at Lakeridge Winery

Get out your favorite bib and bring your appetite: The Lakeridge Winery BBQ & Blues Festival is coming up next weekend, Oct. 13-15.

The three-day event starts Friday, and will feature five of the nation’s top barbecue rib competitors.

The competition includes:

Johnson’s BBQ, is led by “Colonel” Dan Johnson, a retired Army colonel, and the winner of numerous rib competitions, including winner of Best Ribs in America four times, as well as Best Sauce in America.

The Carolina Rib King has emerged as one of the top rib cookers in North America over the past 15 years, featuring the culinary talents of Solomon Williams more commonly known as the King.

Cowboys Barbecue & Rib Company was founded in Texas in 1986 by Texas native Dallas Green, and has a list of wards from throughout the country.

Camp 31 BBQ started in 1985 by Larry Murphy and has been on a winning streak since entering the first BBQ cook-off in Pensacola in 1986 and winning three first place trophies.

Porky-N-Beans is an award-winning barbecue company from Port St. Lucie. They are national rib cook off contenders and travel more than 10,000 every year.

Awards will be handed out for 1st and 2nd place for Best Ribs as well as Best Sauce.

In addition to the barbecue feast, there will be live music on the outdoor stage all three days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) as well as live acts at the Wine & Cheese bar throughout the weekend. There also will be local arts and craft vendors, free winery tours and tastings and more.

Admission is $8 for adults; children 12 and under free.

Part of the proceeds from the event will go the Epilepsy Association of Central Florida.
