You are never to old for Peter Pan, and adults and youngsters can get to see the latest version of this classic tale as the Osceola Center for the Arts presents Peter Pan, weekends through Aug. 31.
Based on J.M. Barrie’s classic tale, Peter Pan, the show, will be presented just as you remember it when you were a kid.
Peter and the sometimes-not-so-nice Tinkerbell, visit the nursery of the Darling children, and are magically taken away (with the help of some pixie dust) to Never Never Land.
While it too features many songs (including “I’m Flying,” “I’ve Gotta Crow” amd “I Won’t Grow Up,”)  this is not quite the same as Disney’s animated Peter Pan, which features a completely different soundtrack.
Peter, and the Darling children do encounter, that crocodile, Indians, pirates and of course, Captain Hook.
The center production will include special effects and actors actually flying through the air.
Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. There also is a show on Thursday, Aug. 21 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15.
For more information on the show, visit The center is located at 2411 E. U.S. Highway 192 in Kissimmee, just east of exit 244 on the Florida Turnpike.
More theater
In other Central Florida theater news, the Mad Cow Theatre in downtown Orlando, continues its production of The History Boys, through Sept. 7.
Based on the show by Alan Bennett, it is the story of a handful of senior schoolboys preparing for coveted places at either Oxford or Cambridge under the tutelage of their somewhat “old-school” history teacher. An unusual approach to their studies is questioned when a new young history teacher joins the staff with strong views of his own.  It’s funny and dramatic  with a good feel throughout.  Check out the movie of the same name, if you can’t make the show.
Tickets are sold at premium and regular levels for $33.75 and $26.25 for weekend performances. Senior and student discounts are available.
The theater is located at 54 W. Church St. in downtown Orlando. Call 407-297-8788 for information or go to
