Experience the true meaning of Christmas by experiencing Poinciana Christian Church’s Drive Through Christmas Story. This event has become a tradition for South Kissimmee and Poinciana residents and a wonderful way to begin the season.
The Drive-Through Christmas Story will be presented Friday, Dec. 1, Saturday, Dec. 2 and Sunday, Dec. 3, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on all days. This Christmas Story features live performers, live animals and a radio channel which narrates the story. This is a free event. Poinciana Christian Church is located at 3181 Pleasant Hill Road.
It’s the big one! The Poinciana Friends of the Library will hold its Winter Book Sale on Friday, Dec. 1 and Saturday, Dec. 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both days at the Poinciana Branch Library. Don’t miss this opportunity to expand your library while supporting a group whose purpose is to expand and improve services at your local library.
A Candy Land Holiday will be Monday, Dec. 4, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Claus will present a confectionery celebration with music, food and crafts. Take a self-guided tour through Candy Land and visit these sweet friends of the board game that will make this an event not to miss.
All library programs are free and open to the public. The Poinciana Branch Library is located at 101 N. Doverplum Ave.
The Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) is wrapping up the year with a holiday celebration. The 25th Annual Christmas Parade and Celebration will be Saturday, Dec. 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Vance Harmon Park, 695 Country Club Drive in Poinciana.
This family-friendly event is free for APV residents and the public to enjoy. The parade will run from Cypress Parkway to Vance Harmon Park. “Float entries continue to pour in, and APV is expecting a huge turnout this year,” said Mark Maldonado, APV general manager. “We invite everyone in Poinciana to join us for this exciting holiday celebration.”
Immediately following the parade, there will be a Christmas Celebration, including a Battle of the Bands featuring local high school marching bands, bounce houses, food trucks, live music and dancing and more. Santa Claus will also make a special appearance at the festival via the Poinciana Express Train and will be available for photo opportunities. Live holiday dance music will be provided by the Nova Jazz Band of Disney fame. In addition, the event’s emcee will be Poinciana’s favorite Disney celebrity, Carol Saragusa.
Parking will be provided off-site at the Activity Campus at 445 Marigold Ave. and the grassy lot behind Walgreens also on Marigold Avenue. Shuttles will be provided to transport attendees to and from the event site.
Companies and organizations have the opportunity to enter a float to participate in the Christmas Parade. There is no cost to enter a float but holiday decorations are required. Table rentals are also available for businesses and organizations to show Poinciana residents appreciation or to introduce themselves to the community. To enter a float or reserve a space at the celebration, please contact Eldonia Rodriguez at 863-427-0900 ext. 502 or
There’s no need to travel far from Poinciana on Dec. 9 to enjoy holiday cheer. Following the Poinciana Parade and festivities at Harmon Park, join Osceola County Commissioner Brandon Arrington at Living Water Fellowship, 4101 Pleasant Hill Road, for a party with Santa.
The party is from 3 to 6 p.m. Sponsored in part by Osceola Reads and the Florida Firefrogs. This holiday celebration includes refreshments and gifts (while supplies last) and entertainment. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
