Celebration High School student Max Figueras will represent Osceola County in the Macy’s Day Great American Marching Band, which will perform during the 91st annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
Figueras received the news of his selection last month to play first trumpet in the parade of celebrity performers, impressive floats and 50-foot helium balloons.
The Macy’s Day Great American Marching Band honors America’s finest high school musicians, under the direction of Auburn University’s Richard Good and assisted by many talented music educators from across the country.
The 185 student musicians who were carefully selected from across the United States will be complimented by 40 flags and dancers.
“I am so honored that Osceola County will be represented at the national level by Max Figueras’ participation in the 185 member band comprised of the country’s finest young musicians,” said School District of Osceola County Fine and Performing Arts Resource Specialist Debbie Fahmie. “I think that this is a testament to the quality music education that is offered here in our schools. Experiences such as this are transformational in the lives of our students and I appreciate the opportunity that this brings to Max’s development.”
The Macy’s Day Parade will begin at Central Park for its traditional parade route. The Macy’s Day Great American Marching Band will perform at Macy’s Herald Square, in front of the 3 million spectators lining the parade route and the more than 50 million TV viewers watching the broadcast live on NBC.
The 91st annual Macy’s Day Parade begins at 9 a.m.
