In less than one month, Summer Break 2018 will be coming to an end for our students. Here’s an event to help make sure they are prepared for the 2018-19 school year.

District 3 Poinciana Community Appreciation Back-To-School Bash will be Saturday, Aug. 4, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Osceola Community Health Services, 109 Doverplum Ave. Sponsored by Osceola Community Health Services, Osceola County, the Kissimmee/Osceola County Chamber of Commerce, Poinciana Area Council and the Osceola County Sheriffs Office, this event will help children and parents be better prepared for the new school year.

School physicals will be available ($25), dental exams, health education, safety tips and local resources.  Kids can enjoy fun activities. Staff from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand, in addition to vehicles and specialty units. Free school supplies and backpacks will be distributed by courtesy of Commissioner Brandon Arrington and the Poinciana Area Council.

Arrive early. There are limited physical exams, backpacks and giveaways.

“Understanding Hip Pain” lecture will be presented by Dr. Nam Dinh on Monday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Poinciana Medical Center. Dr. Dinh is an orthopedic surgeon at the hospital and following the lecture will hold a question and answer session. A complimentary dinner will be served. Registration is required. Call 888-253-8117 to reserve your spot.

StaySky will have a hiring event on Tuesday, July 17, from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Poinciana Community Center, 445 Marigold Ave. Positions range from massage therapists and cosmetologists to guest concierge, front office manager, housekeeping, maintenance and more. The sites for employment are Lake Buena Vista Resort Villas & Spa and Hawthorn Suites Lake Buena Vista.

Interviews will be on the spot. Come dressed to impress and prepared to put your best foot forward. If you have a resume, remember to bring it. No children are allowed at this firing event.
