Arrington, Weisheyer to host district 3 community update

Osceola County School Board Member Tim Weisheyer and Osceola County Commissioner Brandon Arrington will hold a district 3 community update May 22 at 6:30 p.m. This community update will be held in the auditorium of Liberty High School, 4250 Pleasant Hill Road. All residents are invited to attend.

This forum will provide new information on educational and community issues. Also scheduled to present will be Representative John Cortes, state Rep. Mike La Rosa, Sen. Victor Torres, Osceola County Sheriff Russell Gibson, Osceola County Tax Collector Bruce Vickers and Osceola County Property Appraiser Katrina Scarborough.

Translation services in Spanish will be available and light refreshments will be provided.

“The Art of Enrichment” is the name and theme of the Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) summer camp.  The camp is for children ages 5 to 12 and runs from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., beginning June 5 to Aug. 4.  The fee is $65 per week.

The Poinciana Branch Library Offers lecture series and healthy living events to inspire and educate.

Physicians and team members from Poinciana Medical Center share will their vast knowledge of healthcare with a program called the Physician Lecture Series. Tai Chi for arthritis and Fall Prevention is every Monday at 6 p.m., at the Poinciana Branch Library.  Reserve your spot:

Reduce stress, increase endurance and feel better overall with Tai Chi. Tai Chi is supported by the Arthritis Foundation as a safe and effective exercise to relieve pain and improve quality of life. Free and open to the public. Presented by Silver Sneakers and Live Life Well Kissimmee.

The AARP Driver Safety Program’s Smart Driver is designed for those 50 and older who would like to refresh their skills and learn different ways of dealing with age-related driving issues. Upon completion of the course, drivers 55 and older may be eligible for vehicle insurance discounts.

This course will be held over a two-day period – Monday, May 22, and Tuesday, May 23, at 9 a.m. to noon. Both days will be held at the new Poinciana Community Center, 445 Marigold Avenue.
