A movie offer you can’t refuse

Need to beat the heat this summer?

Keep it cool by going to the TCM Big Screen Classics at area theaters beginning in late May with Smokey and the Bandit and continuing through the fall with other film greats like Casablanca and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.

The TCM Big Screen Classics Series is a great chance to see movies you may have never seen before or see them for the very first time on the big screen.

With iconic titles that span five decades, the series continues monthly through December bringing some of the greatest films ever made to theaters. Each film will be screened only four times, on Sunday and Wednesdays at 2 and 7 p.m. In addition, each screening will feature commentary from TCM hosts like Ben Mankiewicz.

All Central Florida screenings are at Downtown Disney 24 (DisneySprings); Pointe Orlando Stadium, 9101 International Drive; Cinemark Orlando Festival Bay, 5150 International Drive.

Tickets for all screenings are on sale now at the Fathom Events website, Fathomevents.com.

Smokey And The Bandit

Celebrate the 40th anniversary of the action-packed film that cemented Burt Reynolds’ status as one of the biggest movie stars of the 1970s. Enjoy this high-octane film on the big screen with exclusive commentary from TCM Host Ben Mankiewicz. May 21 and 24.

The Godfather

Francis Ford Coppola’s epic masterpiece features Marlon Brando in his Oscar-winning role as the patriarch of the Corleone family. Learn more about this classic film with exclusive commentary from TCM Host Ben Mankiewicz. June 4 and 7.

Some Like It Hot

Billy Wilder’s beloved comedy about two musicians who find themselves on the run after they inadvertently witness a gangland murder. Learn more about this iconic film with exclusive commentary from TCM Host Tiffany Vazquez. June 11 and 14.

Fast Times At Ridgemont High

Sean Penn stars as the unforgettable Jeff Spicoli in the film that defined the outrageous and bold 1980s teen comedy genre. Go back to school with exclusive commentary from TCM Host Ben Mankiewicz, who will give insight into this classic film. July 30 and Aug. 2.

Bonnie And Clyde

Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway star in director Arthur Penn’s groundbreaking and Academy Award-winning film. Celebrate the 50th anniversary of this iconic film with a special screening and enjoy exclusive commentary from TCM Host Tiffany Vazquez. Aug. 13 and 16.

E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial

Relive the adventure and magic in Steven Spielberg’s beloved tale of the friendship between a lost alien and a 10-year-old boy when it returns to the big screen. Celebrate the 35th anniversary of this iconic film with a special screening and enjoy exclusive commentary from TCM Host Ben Mankiewicz. Sept. 17 and 20.

The Princess Bride

Rob Reiner’s fairy-tale adventure is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Delight in a special screening of the iconic film and enjoy special commentary from TCM Host Tiffany Vazquez. Oct. 15 and 18.

Casablanca

One of Hollywood’s greatest and most iconic films returns to the big screen for its 75th Anniversary. Learn more about this classic film with exclusive commentary from TCM Host Ben Mankiewicz. Nov. 12 and 15.

Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner

Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of a breakthrough film about interracial romance. Pull up a seat to the table and learn more about this classic film with exclusive commentary from CM Host Tiffany Vazquez. Dec. 10 and 13.

Other upcoming Fathom theater events include Chris Brown: Welcome to My Life.

Chris Brown is speaking out in his new documentary, Welcome To My Life. This compelling one-night event moves beyond the spotlight and past the attention-grabbing headlines to give the pop superstar a chance to tell his own story. The documentary has a runtime of 85 minutes and it has an R rating. June 8.

This film also will be shown in Kissimmee at The Loop 16, 3232 North John Young Parkway.

Also coming is National Theater Live Peter Pan, captured live, this is the London stage production.
