Harmony High recently celebrated its sixth Orange Belt Conference All-Sports championship in
seven years.
The Longhorns (136) scored the most points ever in easily outdistancing second place Osceola (118) for the championship. St. Cloud (103), Celebration (92), Gateway (78), Liberty (66) and Poinciana (40) completed the standings.
Harmony locked up the title after winning baseball, flag football, softball and boys weightlifting championships this spring. Harmony won nine conference titles in all and finished second 11 times. There are 23 contested OBC sports.
Harmony won winter sports championships in boys and girls soccer and girls basketball. It won the boys golf title in the fall.
“Like always, it’s a credit to our student-athletes and our coaching staff. They are the ones who go out there and put in the work to get it done,” Harmony Athletic Director Chuck Hitt said. “We try to put our coaches in a position to succeed and support them all we can, but then it’s up to them. They deserve all the credit.”
Osceola, which has won the All-Sports title or finished second for the past 27 years, won football, girls swimming, volleyball, wrestling, and competitive cheerleading titles.
St. Cloud placed third for the seventh year in a row after winning six consecutive all-OBC titles. It won girls cross country, girls weightlifting and girls track titles.
Celebration had its best All-Sports finish ever in fourth place after
winning boys golf, boys tennis and girls tennis championships.
Poinciana is handicapped by being the smallest school among the county’s large public schools and it does not field teams in several sports. It also does not receive points in football because the Eagles do not play a majority of the OBC teams.
