St. Cloud man arrested in invasion, assault, card theft
Osceola County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a St. Cloud man Monday for breaking into an elderly woman’s home and forcing her to give up her bank card.
Jose Diaz-Concepcion, 19, has been charged with home invasion, attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, false imprisonment, receiving money/property fraud using credit card and battery on a person 65 years old or older.
On Saturday around 2:23 a.m., deputies responded to a home on Rosedale Avenue in St. Cloud. At the residence, the 70-year-old victim told deputies she was awakened to someone lying on top of her and pushing a pillow against her face. As she struggled, the suspect demanded cash, but the woman told him that she only had a bank card. The suspect then took her bank card and left the residence. Later, he tried to use the card to withdraw money in her account.
Concepcion was identified as the suspect during the investigation. He worked for a former lawn maintenance service that contracted with the homeowner’s association in the victim’s neighborhood, Sheriff’s spokesperson Twis Lizasuain said.
Detectives brought Concepcion in for questioning and he cooperated. He was booked into the Osceola County Jail Monday, where he remained held on $21,000 as of Tuesday.
