St. Cloud hospital celebrating 50 years

St. Cloud Regional Medical Center kicks off a two-week long celebration of its 50th anniversary today with a community cookout featuring free food

The event will feature a free cookout with hot dogs and hamburgers, face painting, balloon artists and games like corn hole. Local bands will provide free live music through the afternoon, and the hospital will be giving away tickets to attend upcoming hospital events and holding registration for upcoming health screenings.
In addition, the hospital will be holding a VIP Reception at The Royal Crest Room at Royal St. Cloud Golf Club March 18 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Invited community leaders, emergency responders, hospital board members and its Women’s Advisory Council, long-time volunteers, and associates who have been with St. Cloud Regional for more than 20 years will be in attendance. Dr. Peter Morrow will make a presentation on the growth of St. Cloud Regional Medical Center over the years, and Mari Jones will be presenting on the future of St. Cloud Regional and its many links to the community. Long-standing associates will be honored and a slide show celebrating the hospital’s 50 years in St. Cloud will be shown.
On March 20, the actual day of the anniversary, hospital officials will hold a dedication ceremony and, weather permitted, bury a time capsule with items that represent “A Day in the Life of St. Cloud Regional Medical Center” in 2014.
