The Osceola County Investigative Bureau was investigating a small chain of Central Florida medicine clinics for allegedly over-prescribing narcotic medications to patients.

Working with Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Florida Department of Health, Drug Enforcement Administration and the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation, the OCIB searched the Dr. Borges Medicine and More clinic on 1207 E. Vine Street in Kissimmee and 1800 W. Oak Ridge Road in Orlando, as well as Dr. Ibem Borges’ home early Friday morning. The Florida Department of Health also issued an emergency order restricting his privilege to prescribe narcotics.

The investigation began after OCIB and the DEA received multiple complains about Borges over-prescribing narcotics medication to patients. This is an ongoing investigation and is being conducted in conjunction with the Florida Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution.
