Kissimmee Police Detectives arrested an academic coach at Mavericks High School for having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Wayne Brown, 34, was charged with distribution of obscene material to a minor.
The investigation began on Sept. 19 after Brown’s wife told another school employee that he received explicit
photos from a 16-year-old student. When detectives questioned Brown, he denied receiving the photos. But, when detectives interviewed the 16-year-old student, she explained that her relationship with Brown became more intimate over the course of the past year. She said that she also received explicit photos from Brown, but their relationship never became physical.
Brown met with detectives again about the allegations on Oct. 10 and incorporated with the investigation. An arrest warrant was obtained for Brown on Oct. 11 and he turned himself in to police. He will be transported to Osceola County Jail and held on a $5,000 bond.
Detectives believe that Brown has victimized others as he has contact with children through the school and his church where he is a minister.
